The Jeffco Education Support Professionals Association (JESPA) has adopted a new resolution affirming its commitment to the safety and security of all staff, students, and communities. The resolution calls on Jeffco Public Schools to establish clear, district-wide policies and training to ensure consistency in responding to law enforcement and immigration enforcement situations in schools and transportation terminals.
JESPA members have repeatedly raised concerns about the lack of clear guidance, leading to inconsistent decision-making by school administrators and department leaders. Without standardized policies, staff and students are left vulnerable to unsafe situations and confusion.
“The safety of all students and community, regardless of immigration status, shouldn’t be at the will of individualadministrators in Jeffco,” said Zander Kaschub, JESPA President. “JESPA members are demanding clear, enforceable policies that protect everyone in our schools and workplaces.”
As part of this resolution, JESPA will:
- Urge Jeffco Public Schools to adopt uniform policies regarding law enforcement and immigration enforcement interactions.
- Insist on accountability measures for all administrators to ensure proper implementation of safety protocols.
- Continue advocating for the safety and security of its members, students, and the broader Jeffco community
