The Jeffco Education Support Professionals Association (JESPA) is calling for immediate action and accountability following the unauthorized use of district resources by administrators and a private rideshare company.

Last fall, JESPA members came across a HopSkipDrive video featuring district staff, including Director Valerie Mora, Executive Director Greg Jackson, and several other district staff, promoting the private, for-profit corporation using district property, time, and Jeffco’s logo and reputation. This disregard for district policies and contractual agreements is unacceptable and demands swift intervention, however, the district has so far failed to respond to JESPA’s demand for accountability for district administrators involved in producing the advertisement.

JESPA has now formally urged the Jeffco Board of Education to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and hold all involved parties accountable for their actions. The association stresses the importance of upholding the integrity of contractual agreements and adherence to district policies to maintain public trust and ensure responsible stewardship of district resources.

Despite our efforts to address these issues, the board’s recent authorization of yet another increase to HopSkipDrive’s contracts raises serious concerns over the board’s ability to follow through on their commitments to decrease outsourcing. This decision undermines the trust and confidence of stakeholders who rely on the district to prioritize student safety and fiscal responsibility.

JESPA calls on the Jeffco Board of Education to reconsider this decision and take decisive action to rectify the situation. Administrators and the rideshare company must be held accountable for their actions, and measures should be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.  We urge the board to prioritize the well-being of students and the responsible allocation of district resources. Failure to address these concerns promptly could have detrimental effects on the district’s reputation and community trust.  We call for an immediate end to the contract with HopSkipDrive for this serious misuse of taxpayer dollars.
